Give
Us A Break is an exciting project which provides
funded opportunities for those most at risk of
disadvantage in society to experience the benefits of
participating in educational, social, cultural and
recreational activities within the fun and friendly
environment of a Youth Hostel setting.
By
introducing new ideas and developing self-confidence we aim to
equip participants with the knowledge and skills to break the
cycle of exclusion and to enjoy an alternative quality of
life.
Trips
to a variety of hostels in both city and rural locations will
bring young people together from different backgrounds
to develop understanding and foster tolerance. For
many of these youngsters, it will be their first trip away
from home, or even out of the city. By offering them the
opportunity to travel, we are helping them learn more about
their environment and what is available in Scotland.
The
activity breaks are designed to encourage groups of
young people to develop new ideas and skills, and to build the
confidence to tackle everyday situations. The breaks
provide the opportunity to address the cycle of social
exclusion and pave the way to a better quality of life for
themselves and their community.
